China moves forward on unifying rural and urban health schemes 

A unified national medical insurance service will be established for urban and rural citizens in China, the National Healthcare Security Administration and Ministry of Finance have announced. Twenty-four provincial-level regions have already replaced their separate rural and urban medical schemes with a unified medical insurance service, and the government has urged the seven remaining regions to speed up their integration process.  The government also announced that the average minimum amount of medical insurance subsidy for each citizen will increase to 520 yuan a year in 2019 — up from 490 yuan.
