The next frontier: Behavioral health
Mental health is often a silent and unseen condition so we don’t always realize how prevalent it is around us. At least 1 in every 5 people that you interact with on a daily basis is struggling with an illness that is often non-apparent and often stigmatized (Steadman, n.d.). What exasperates this issue even more is over half of those people struggling do not receive treatment for their mental illness (World Health Organization, n.d.). This is an issue for society – and for employers.
The pace of innovation in behavioral and mental health during the pandemic was unprecedented – but so was the increase in mental illness and behavioral health issues. In the past few years we have seen advancements in a few key areas related to behavioral and mental health; especially around telehealth and digital health which have broadened access and provided new methodologies.
