Overview

Join Marsh’s November 12 Washington Update Briefing on employee health, fringe and retirement benefits.

Democrats are poised to take the congressional benefits agenda in a new direction if they control one or both chambers next year. This post-election briefing will review their 2027 legislative priorities, as well as healthcare and retirement proposals that could be in play during the upcoming lame-duck session.

On the health and fringe benefits side, the Trump administration recently finalized transparency-in-coverage rules and proposed several additional measures, including electronic disclosures, dependent care assistance program nondiscrimination tests, and fertility excepted benefits. Regulators also released helpful mental health parity guidance. We’ll provide an update on all of this, along with issues affecting employer plan sponsors such as the federal Independent Dispute Resolution process under the No Surprises Act and vaccine policy. More guidance is expected soon on several topics, including mental health parity and PBM fee disclosure rules.

On the retirement front, IRS continues to focus much of its retirement plan energy on Trump accounts, though the agency found time to issue much-needed guidance on plan amendment deadlines for changes relating to the SECURE 1.0 and 2.0 acts. DOL provided some relief for plan sponsors struggling with SECURE 2.0’s paper statement requirements, while PBGC has been astonishingly busy over the past few months, releasing a flurry of guidance for pension practitioners. We’ll also discuss the state of play for some key lawsuits affecting pension plans.

Experts from Marsh’s Law & Policy Group will discuss these and other issues during this live 90-minute webinar.
