Fur-ternity leave?
Keeping up with the long list of state mandated paid leave benefits has been a real challenge. Then along comes this story on a special type of leave with the goal of helping out employees with furry family members. Examples include an employer allowing a week of work from home days for employees to help their new furry companion adjust to new surroundings to an employer providing two weeks of paid leave for employees adopting a rescue dog or other animal. While this type of benefit could be a real differentiator, employers are encouraged to review these types of policy changes with in-house or outside counsel. As for us, we viewed it as a shameless opportunity to share photos of our blog dogs with our readers as we end the dog days of summer.
