Painful business decisions prompted by the economic downturn have placed unprecedented stress on workforces worldwide. Facing continuing uncertainty, business and HR leaders are asking: How are the tough times affecting employee engagement at my organization?

Conducted quarterly, Mercer’s new SWIFT Survey program (State of the Workforce In Fast-changing Times) answers this critical question by tracking changes in key engagement measures as economic and business events unfold over 2010 and beyond.

SWIFT: Quick, cost-effective and reliable

A 21-question online employee survey, SWIFT analyzes the relative importance employees assign to different elements of the employment deal and determines their overall level of engagement. The survey questionnaire includes:

  • A five-item employee engagement index
  • Eleven additional questions highlighting key drivers of engagement
  • Conjoint questions to measure preferences and satisfaction with seven key elements of the employment “deal”
  • Three demographic questions – age, tenure and job level

Real-time results, delivered quarterly

The survey is repeated quarterly to establish a baseline and then measure trends over time.

Within two weeks after each survey, SWIFT program participants will receive:

  • A comprehensive report of all survey and demographic questions, plus key driver analysis
  • A benchmarking report based on participating organizations and on Mercer’s What’s WorkingTM norms
  • Trend analysis for each subsequent administration of the survey

Here are sample outputs from the SWIFT Survey that will help address your employee engagement challenges.
