Michelle Thomsen oversees the legal counsel and strategy for Marsh McLennan teams across the Pacific, Legal, Risk and Compliance, Corporate Secretariat and Public Affairs team for Marsh McLennan in the Pacific.

Michelle brings more than 24 years’ experience our business, with expertise in corporate and commercial law, and a strong focus on transactional (M&A) and corporate advisory work, investment funds management, and most recently in the financial services sector.

She joined Marsh McLennan in 2023 from QIC, where Michelle was the Global General Counsel. For a period of time, she was Interim Chief Risk Officer at QIC where she also led the Risk Management Group. Prior to this, her experience includes General Counsel and Executive roles in Australia and overseas with the Bank of Queensland and Babcock & Brown (where she was General Counsel to two listed funds), and she was a partner at SJ Berwin (London) where she was Head of Renewables, Cleantech and Carbon across the UK and Europe.

Michelle has held a range of external Board roles including being a Director on the Board of the Queensland Rugby Union and a member of the Audit and Risk Committee for the Queensland Rugby League. 

Michelle lives in Brisbane, Turrbal and Yuggera land.
