As the President of Mercer Hong Kong, Richard Roper leads a deeply knowledgeable team to tackle the underlying issues that can improve employee health, and share this with their clients. With nearly three decades’ experience in the insurance industry, he knows that a company’s health benefits can be transformational: rewarding people for good behavior in a way that really impacts their lives, rather than just their work life. At Mercer, his team’s purpose includes insurance: but he wishes people knew that Mercer does so much more than insurance. The Mercer Hong Kong team goes beyond finding the most appropriate and cost-effective deal for their customers: they offer consultancy and advice to make sure their clients are improving the employee experience and maximizing their ability to attract and retain employees. That’s why he’s proud to lead Mercer, as well as Health and Benefits business at Mercer Marsh Benefits: because improving the health and benefits of their clients is impactful far beyond the workplace. Richard spends his spare time working on his own health and happiness.  As a keen triathlete Richard explores Hong Kong on foot, by bicycle and in the water.  

Joan Collar leads Mercer Marsh Benefits (MMB), the Employee Health & Benefits business formed by the combination of the Marsh McLennan companies Mercer and Marsh in Asia and the Pacific. She is based in Singapore and manages the employee benefits business spanning 14 countries where she leads the strategy and growth across the two regions. Joan started her career in employee benefits over 25 years ago, with the last 15 years in MMB. Joan has authored numerous publications and is an accomplished speaker who participates in speaking engagements across Asia, delivering MMB’s thought leadership on key issues such as healthcare, choice benefits, insurance risk management and mental health.

Andrew Lee is the Head of Corporate Solutions Strategy of AIA Hong Kong and Macau, responsible for the overall strategy of AIA Hong Kong and Macau’s employee benefits business. Andrew joined AIA in 1995 and was the Pricing Head of AIA Group Corporate Solutions overseeing the portfolio of employee benefits businesses across different countries where AIA has a presence before joining AIA Hong Kong and Macau in 2018. He holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences degree and a Master of Economics degree from The University of Hong Kong. Andrew has over 25 years of experience in the insurance industry and is a member of the Society of Actuaries.

Gary is the Head of Rewards of Mercer’s Career Consulting business in Hong Kong.

Gary has over 16 years of consulting experience, with a primary focus on broad-based compensation. His areas of expertise include total rewards strategy design, job architecture development, job evaluation and grade structure review, pay structure design, compensation and benefits policy review and harmonization, customized market benchmarking studies and variable pay plan design. He also has experience in talent assessment and employee engagement studies. He has partnered with multinational companies, local firms as well as government-related organizations, providing a broad range of rewards advisory services.

Prior to joining Mercer, Gary was a Director of the human capital solutions advisory team with a global consulting firm, working closely with clients in both private and public sectors on rewards consulting projects and market surveys across various industries, including retail and consumer goods, life sciences, property, energy, education and transportation & logistics, etc.

Before taking on the role of Sales and Commercial Acceleration Leader in Hong Kong and Macau, Karen is part of the Multinational team at MMB and her coverage is across Asia Pacific. She possesses extensive experience around global and regional benefit advisory for multinational, regional, and local clients. She has worked with onboarding some of MMB’s largest clients, working with them on change management across complex broking, consulting and digital solutions. Karen comes from over fifteen years’ of HR consulting and employee benefits experience. She has a deep knowledge of local benefit broking services, flexible benefits, benefit harmonization and integration projects. She has acted as an advisor and consultant to numerous benefit consulting projects, and held a number of account management and sales leadership positions during her time with MMB based out of Hong Kong. She has also worked hand-in-hand with local teams, insurers and vendors to build our local value proposition and go-to-market strategy. 

Over 15 years’ experience in the health industry in Australia & Hong Kong. Prior to Mercer Tony worked at Bupa for 13 years and is currently the Head of the Mercer Hong Kong Heath & Benefits Consulting Team, specializing in driving data & analytics to identify and tailor diagnostic driven medical, employee benefits and wellness solutions to clients in Hong Kong.

As Senior Manager at Mercer Hong Kong, Matt is responsible for driving growth and building strategic partnerships with clients. With a strong background in employee benefits, Matt has a deep understanding of the needs and challenges facing clients in Hong Kong. He is well-placed in providing clients with holistic solutions on benefits consulting, insurance brokerage services, digital solutions and employee wellbeing programs. Matt holds a Bachelor's degree in Physics & Astrophysics from The University of Sheffield.
