Retirement Income Strategies – one year on

One year on from the introduction of the Retirement Income Covenant (RIC), APRA and ASIC have released the findings of a thematic review (the Review), exploring how fifteen superannuation fund trustees (RSE licensees) have implemented the requirements of the RIC.

While the headline message from the Review is a perceived lack of progress from RSE licensees, a closer look reveals positive comments about the approach of certain RSE licensees and specific areas they can act on to develop their retirement strategies. This is consistent with Mercer’s observation that this is top of mind for RSE licensees and many are transforming how they assist their members who are approaching and in retirement.
The RIC is a step along the journey ensuring that the retirement outcomes of members are a high priority for all RSE licensees.
