Revolutionizing human resources (HR): The Impact of AI and skills on HR transformation
The New Shape of Work interview series addresses the challenges and uncertainty in the current business environment with a focus on how to transition to a more agile workforce for the future.
HR is undergoing a significant shift with the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. This transformation is driven by the need for greater optimization and cost efficiency, as well as the desire to enhance the employee experience. The use of generative AI, and other new technology, is enabling HR teams to work more efficiently with data, find talent with future-fit skills, and improve decision-making. To succeed in transformation, organizations need to embrace a multi-dimensional approach aligning processes, systems, skills, content, and strategy around the employee experience.
Our guests today, Armin von Rohrscheidt, HR Transformation Practice Leader in Europe, and Alex Zoea, Digital HR Transformation practice with Mercer | LeapGen share the shifts AI is having on the HR function and opportunities to enhance the HR and the organization in the future.
Interesting moments:
-
Personalization at scale
We're never going to get more resources in HR. The days of additional headcount are over and if we want to be able to deliver new, innovative, exciting services to the workforce, the only way we're going to be able to deliver that at scale - in a way that still feels personalized and meaningful to employees -we have to leverage technology. We have to harness technology to be able to do that. -
Meeting business commitments
We're actually looking at the HR function itself. How is the function evolving? How can the function be transformed? And what are the future trends for the HR function to keep up with the promises we're making to the business? -
Build a path to new skills
Transformation has to start with understanding where the business wants to be and a mindset of accepting that there will be new skills needed to evolve your business. Start to articulate what we need as skills instead of jobs or full-time equivalent (FTE) and then let's create that path to build those skills. -
Human at the centre
Embrace technology for this transformation because it's a helper. I don't mean just by buying the next great system, embody it into your transformation process. Use it where it's useful. But still control the technology - feed it with the right questions, feed it with the right data. Take multiple perspectives and then discuss the perspectives because the human factor in this transformation is still super important.
