New Shape of Work
Radically transforming HR with BMW
August 15, 2022 | Episode 24 | 20:46
The New Shape of Work interview series addresses the challenges and uncertainty brought on by the coronavirus with a focus on how to transition to a more agile workforce for the future.
In this episode, we are talking with Moritz Kippenberger who is a head of HR services at BMW group about the question of how HR needs to radically transform the way it operates if it's to survive during the post-COVID world of new expectations around work and working. This is a really critical topic for many of us today as we begin to face the prospect of increasing inflation, concerns about recession and a tight Labour market. The need to focus on the employee experience and ensure that the jobs that we have today are attractive for the current talent that we have and the future talent we need.
Interesting moments from the interview:
-
Give people time back
"We need to be ahead of the curve. Just performing services the way we do today will not lead to the same level of satisfaction in the future because people will have different expectations. And there's also a big opportunity for the business side because we can give people time back to focus on their job." -
Remove complexity
"HR is always going to be a complex organization, but I do not believe that there is any need to give that complexity that we have within the organization to the employee. So we need to find a new setup that takes all the complexity away from the employee." -
Tailor jobs to the market
"What we're going to see is a strong competition in business on different models and how they're going to evolve jobs. So it's not as much going to be around salary and benefits, but really creating jobs that that fit to the marketplace. And I really believe that there is going to be a strong competition to be most effective, but also to get access to the biggest talents and recognizing the individual needs of the employees and people in the labour market."
