Luxembourg Increases Paid Holiday Entitlement, Adds Public Holiday

Employees in Luxembourg will be entitled to one more day of paid vacation leave and one new public holiday from 1 Jan 2019, under revisions (French) to the labor code that were agreed to at the end of March and apply retrospectively.
Employees are now entitled to 26 holidays, up from 25, and the new public holiday — Europe Day — will be 9 May. Employers should review leave entitlement provisions included in collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) and employment contracts — employees will be entitled to the additional leave entitlement if the CBA or their contract covers statutory leave entitlement.
