You will have the experience of a full-time analyst role and gain valuable insights into the world of professional services. Mercer offers internships in Employee Health & Benefits, Government Human Services Consulting, Retirement Consulting, Investment Consulting, and Workforce and Career Consulting. All majors are welcome to apply.
If you are pursuing an actuarial degree and/or certification, begin your career working with the leading Human Capital Consulting Firm as an entry-level actuarial analyst. Early in their careers, actuarial analysts will have a high level of responsibility with exposure to clients. You will work closely with senior consultants to design, finance, price, and administer client companies’ health and welfare programs.
Mercer supports its actuaries through our Actuarial Study Program. We provide support through paid study and exam time, monetary reimbursement for materials and tests, and internal guidance and study resources. Candidates who have accepted a full-time offer may be reimbursed for study materials and exam fees after their official start date at Mercer with valid receipts.
As a consulting analyst, you will help collect, analyze and interpret data for client reports. You’ll also write and structure client communications, including proposals, reports, spreadsheets and presentations. With a solid practical and analytical foundation of the industry, you will strengthen your future career path.
Employee Health & Benefits analysts work with employer health plans. Government Human Services consulting analysts work with state governments on public health care benefits . Career analysts have a dual understanding of finance and human behavior. Investment analysts work on accounting and math-based projects.
As an associate, you will interpret and draw meaningful conclusions from research and analysis on industry and organization-specific issues. You will evaluate clients’ strategic business objectives and their implications for rewards, leadership, organization performance and other HR policies.
Associates are students graduating from an MBA or master’s program in the current academic year. Candidates should have three to five years of relevant business experience. Currently, we offer Summer Associate and full-time Associate positions with our Career business.
At Mercer, you will make an impact doing meaningful work. We have mentorship programs and care about our employees and their career trajectory.
We highly value diversity and work to foster understanding, inclusion and innovation in the workplace. Business Resource Groups (BRGs) are made up of colleagues with a common identity who receive recognition and support by the company. Members gain professional development and leadership opportunities that also help Mercer achieve its strategic business imperatives.
Volunteering and caring for our communities is also a chief component of our workplace culture. Find out about the many ways that Mercer colleagues give back, from our global Mercer Cares program to the paid day off Mercer gives to each colleague every year for volunteering.
"Starting your career at a firm like Mercer is a smart decision for any young professional. The exposure you get to different clients, industries and topics is difficult to find elsewhere — as a junior consultant, you’re able to wear so many different hats and tackle so many different kinds of problems that all kinds of organizations face."
"This is a great place to learn, largely due to its expansive team of experts. I’ve seen my role evolve from a junior analyst to a lead financial consultant on my client teams. This has helped me reflect on the high amount of professional growth that I’ve experienced in my time here."
"I interned prior to graduating and really enjoyed the atmosphere/culture! I was thankful to receive a full-time offer and haven’t looked back since. The Executive Benefits Group, and the whole company, has allowed me to grow and continue developing myself, all the while getting to meet new people and cultivate relationships."
“I grew up in Bangkok, Thailand, but have lived in France, Wales & the Philippines prior to coming to the US to start university in 2015. I've been in Washington DC since then and just started working at Mercer NYC office last year!”
