Turkey Sets Out Investment Requirements for Pension Funds

New investment requirements for standard and money market pension funds have been announced (Turkish) by the Capital Markets Board in a resolution dated 27 May 2019. Highlights include the following:

  • A minimum of 10% of the portfolio of standard funds should be invested in BIST 100, BIST Sustainability Index, BIST Corporate Governance Index and Borsa İstanbul A.Ş.
  • A minimum of 25% of the portfolio of money market funds should be invested in government debts.

Pension companies must make necessary adjustments by 31 Jul 2019.
