Employees in Taiwan can receive up to three medical insurance reimbursements under a regulation (Chinese) that took effect on 8 Nov 2019. The cap applies to accidental medical and hospitalization insurance policies and will be enforced by insurers and the Life Insurance Association. According to the Financial Supervisory Commission, the regulation applies to voluntary group insurance policies unless the employer fully pays the insurance premium.
Also starting 8 Nov 2019, employees holding three or more reimbursement-based medical insurance policies can no longer enroll in voluntary plans for which they pay part or all of the premium. When enrolling for a bundle of multiple insurance policies, employees can’t separately apply for any product included in the bundle.
