Mercer Investments announces senior hires, reflecting strong growth in its business

Mercer Investments is adding four senior and experienced investment professionals, reflecting strong growth in Mercer’s North American business.

·         Neeraj Baxi, previously a Director with Primus Investment Management in Mumbai, India, and a Principal with EnnisKnupp in Mumbai and Chicago, is joining as a senior investment consultant in New York

·         Brett Horton, previously a Director with Duff & Phelps, has joined as a senior consultant to help further enhance Mercer’s already strong investment manager operational risk assessment service

·         Chris Kohler, most recently with Entrust and previously with Hewitt EnnisKnupp, has joined as a senior consultant supporting Mercer’s Endowments and Foundations business

·      Greg Korte, previously founder and Principal of Korte & Associates Consulting, LLC, a specialist custody and investment operations consulting firm,  has joined as a senior consultant and head of Mercer's custody consulting business in North America

“We are building additional delivery capacity ahead of further anticipated growth in our investment consulting and fiduciary management business.  We’ve been experiencing robust growth, and need to add senior, experienced, high quality staff such as Neeraj, Brett, Chis and Greg, in order to ensure continued strong service to our clients,” said Rich Nuzum, head of Mercer Investments in North America.

Neeraj Baxi received a Bachelor of Commerce, Sydenham College of Commerce & Economics, Mumbai, India, an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, India, an MS in Financial Markets from the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, and is a CFA Charterholder.

Brett Horton, a senior forensic professional with more than 25 years of experience focusing on operational risk, due diligence and the detection of operational fraud and embezzlement, has joined Mercer as a Principal to evaluate governance in Mercer-rated investment management firms.   Brett has developed a systematic approach to reviewing, evaluating, and performing investment manager operational risks and diligence that goes beyond what is traditionally used in the industry. Prior to joining Duff & Phelps, Brett served as a Senior Vice President at Marsh & McLennan. He has extensive experience serving as an expert witness on State and Federal cases as well as arbitrations. Brett’s undergraduate concentration was in economics at Brigham Young University where he was also a distinguished member of Omicron Delta Epsilon (National Economics Honors Society).

Chris Kohler was most recently with Entrust Capital, a large global independent hedge fund-of-funds, in business development and consultant relations, and previously with Hewitt EnnisKnupp advising endowment and foundation clients. He received a B.S. degree from Pennsylvania State University and an MBA degree from Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business.

Greg Korte was previously founder and Principal of Korte & Associates Consulting, LLC, a specialist custody and investment operations consulting firm. Mr. Korte has 30 years of experience in the investments service industry, primarily helping institutional investors understand non-market risks, improve operational efficiency, and achieve effective cost and vendor management. Prior to forming Korte Consulting, Mr. Korte was Head of the North American Custody and Operations Consulting Practice at Russell Investments. He received a B.S. degree from Franklin University, concentrating on Finance and Management.
