Mercer has been named ‘Investment Consultant of the Year’ at the Professional Pensions UK Pensions Awards 2009. A panel of judges, consisting of 12 senior names from the pensions industry, voted Mercer the winner. The award recognises the firm’s innovation and communication in investment consultancy services over the last 12 months.
Fiona Dunsire, UK head of Mercer’s investment consulting business, commented: “Last year’s unprecedented market turmoil created a challenging environment for our clients. Our focus has been to develop solutions to help improve the performance of their assets and protect against further losses. We are delighted that our innovative approaches have been recognised by the pensions industry.”
Mercer has guided a large number of clients through risk and operations reviews to help them through the financial crisis. In the last year the firm also broke new ground in the responsible investment area by incorporating environmental, social and governance factors into its mainstream manager research and launching a carbon footprint analysis tool for client portfolios. Mercer’s implemented consulting service continues to offer clients the flexibility to delegate the decision-making at all stages of the investment process.
