Steven Blackie
Mercer Principal
Steven is the Unit Head of Edinburgh investment consulting business.
Steven has over fifteen years of asset management, pensions and investment consultancy experience. Prior to moving to Mercer in Edinburgh, he was commercial director for Aon's Consultancy business in Scotland. Steven also spent a number of years with Edinburgh Fund Managers and Merrill Lynch Investment Managers investing in emerging market and Japanese equities.
Steven's clients include several large schemes who are implementing complex liability driven solutions.
Steven has a BSc (Hons) in Civil Engineering and an MBA from Heriot-Watt University, along with a Diploma in Investment Analysis from Stirling University. He is an Associate member of the Society of Investment Professionals (ASIP, AIMR).
George Fowler
Mercer Principal
George is the Unit Head of Bristol investment consulting business. George currently advises twenty UK Trustee, Corporate and Charity based clients ranging in size from £20m to £3bn. One of George's key areas of focus has been to assist a number of clients in diversifying into alternatives and moving towards a specialised manager structure. In particular George's clients have been nominated for 'Best Use of Specialist Management' at both the 2006 and 2008 Professional Pensions Awards (at the latter his client was the winner of the award).
As well as providing consulting advice, George has a number of manager research responsibilities including being involved in researching a number of unconstrained equity managers, as well as being a member of the multi-strategy research team. George is also the consulting member of Mercer's Implemented Consulting Investment Committee which is responsible for setting the investment policy for clients that delegate responsibility for this decision to Mercer.
George has ten years of experience within the investment industry and a Masters degree in economics from Queens' College, University of Cambridge. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries.
Paddy Hagan
Mercer Principal
Paddy is the Unit Head of Leeds investment consulting business. He provides consulting advice to the a range of defined benefit and defined contribution schemes (advising Trustees and their sponsors) and has specific investment manager research responsibilities.
Paddy has fifteen years of experience within the pensions and investment industry. Prior to joining investment consulting in Leeds in 2000, he worked in Mercer's London office. Before working for Mercer, Paddy spent three years at the Civil service and two years at a small pension consultancy, and has also spent two years in Tanzania teaching mathematics.
Paddy is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries and has a degree in natural sciences from Cambridge University.
David Coleman
Mercer Principal
David is a principal within in Mercer’s Investment Consulting business and is Unit Head within the Birmingham office. He is responsible for providing consulting advice to a wide range of clients, including household names in the mining, leisure and manufacturing sectors.
David joined Mercer in 1987 after graduating with a first class degree in mathematics from Nottingham University. He qualified as an actuary in 1993.
Steve Turner
Mercer Principal
Steve is a principal in Mercer's investment consulting business and is head of the investment consulting business based in Windsor. He is involved in advising institutional investors on the full range of investment consulting issues including strategic asset allocation, manager structure, manager selection, asset reorganisations and ongoing investment and risk monitoring. As well as providing consulting advice, Steve also has specific investment manager research responsibilities.
Steve joined Sedgwick Noble Lowndes (SNL) in 1997 and subsequently joined Mercer Investment Consulting in 1998 as part of the merger with SNL.
Steve has a degree in economics and politics from the University of Plymouth and is a member of the Society of Investment Professionals.
Mark Walker
Mercer Principal
Mark is a Principal and is head of the London Investment Consulting business. He is also a member of the UK IC executive committee.
Mark has over ten years of experience in actuarial, pensions and investment consultancy. Prior to moving to Mercer in London, he worked within Mercer's Leeds office. Mark's clients include several multinational corporations where he has been involved in looking at pensions assets on a global basis.
Mark has a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Durham University and is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries.
