Welcome to MercerVision - a live web TV conference on the hot topic of pensions de-risking.

Since our first MercerVision event last October the de-risking market has moved on at a pace. While buyouts and buy-ins still remain an option new approaches, such as longevity swaps and "dynamic de-risking" have come to the market. These have made the navigation of the new landscape more complex than ever.

Many schemes have considered a buyout or a buy-in, and while some have gone down this route, others have decided it’s not for them at all. So what are the alternatives and how can a scheme make sure it’s in the best position to capture opportunities to de-risk as and when they arise?

Who should attend?

If your organisation has a defined benefit pension scheme, open or closed, this innovative Mercer event is designed to bring you right up to date with developments in this fast-moving market. It will be of great interest to trustees, pensions managers, HR directors, finance directors, independent trustees and law firms and you will have the opportunity to network with peers and share experiences and points of view.

Why attend?

Key questions to be addressed at the event will include:

  • What’s ‘hot’ in the risk transfer market?
  • What are the new alternatives to buyout and buy-in and how do they compare?
  • How do you make sure you're in the best position to capture opportunities as and when they arrive?
  • Longevity swaps – should you want one?
  • Is “dynamic de-risking” right for everyone?

Event format

This conference will be transmitted live via the internet from the London Stock Exchange to audiences in locations throughout the UK. It will be a mix of presentations, interviews and panel discussions. In addition, at each location, there will be an “offline” facilitated discussion break enabling delegates to share their experiences and consider questions to be put to the experts in the studio.

Pensions related risk solutions: Mercer’s approach and experience

Some advisers only focus on bulk annuities as the solution to pensions-related risk. Mercer’s approach centres first on an in-depth strategic and commercial review of financial and other risks, before considering the best approach from the wide range of potential solutions and products available.

Mercer is the market leader on risk transfer advice and execution, having been a key adviser on more high-value, high-profile completed transactions in the UK than any other firm.

We have many years of experience of consulting and broking in this area, and have over 40 staff specialising full time in ‘risk solutions’; many providers credit us with leading the field in our understanding of their products and our commercial approach.

Risk solutions projects often require in-depth advice across a wide range of specialisms, including longevity consulting, actuarial and investment advice, broking, operational due diligence, bespoke insurance, covenant expertise and reinsurance. As part of the MMC Group of Companies, we believe that we are the only UK adviser to have a strong presence in each of these fields, with our clients benefiting from specialist advice from Mercer, Oliver Wyman, Marsh, Guy Carpenter and Kroll - each being a global leader in its field.
