Global Business Leader
Stacy Scapino
Stacy is the global director for the Mercer Sentinel® Group, a specialist business unit within Mercer's investment consulting business.
Stacy has 17 years of experience within the pension, investment and banking industries. Prior to assuming the role of global director for the Mercer Sentinel® Group, Stacy led the UK implementation consulting teams and was globally responsible for Mercer’s investment consulting initiatives in consulting to multinational corporations. Prior to joining Mercer in the UK, she was based in Mercer’s Chicago, Illinois office, where she led the United States custody and asset administration team and the defined contribution resource centre.
Stacy came to Mercer from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, where she was a senior financial analyst responsible for research and policy development in bank supervision. Her primary responsibilities were to provide federal reserve senior management and the federal reserve board of governors with analyses related to domestic and international capital markets, accounting and capital adequacy issues.
Stacy has a Bachelor of Science in finance from the University of Illinois and a Master of Arts in international economics and European history from the Johns Hopkins University Paul Nitze School for Advanced International Studies. She is a CFA Charterholder.

Americas
Freeman Wood
Freeman Wood is a Principal and Director of the Americas team within the Mercer Sentinel® Group in Mercer’s investment consulting business.
Freeman joined Mercer in 2009 and has a broad background and significant expertise in risk management. Freeman has led quantitative market and credit risk management teams within large banks and corporate treasury functions, and has experience in derivatives trading and alternative investment portfolios. Immediately prior to joining Mercer he worked in the hedge fund industry, primarily as head of investments for a fund of hedge funds. Freeman was with Ford Motor Company for 8 years in a variety of roles including head of risk management and head of international Treasury operations. Freeman's other experiences include head of market risk for BNP Paribas in New York, banking supervision for the Federal Reserve, and equity options trading on the floor of the CBOE. Freeman is based in the Chicago office.
Freeman holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Allegheny College and an MBA from Northwestern’s J L Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
Amanda Dearborn
Amanda Dearborn is an analyst within the Mercer Sentinel® Group in Mercer’s investment consulting business.
Amanda joined the team in 2009 as a graduate. Amanda has studied in the US primarily but also at the London School of Economics and in France. Amanda was an intern and analyst with JP Morgan in NY and Barclays in London. Amanda is based in the Chicago office.
Amanda has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics with minors in French and International relations from Bucknell University.
Taaha Haq
Taaha Haq is an analyst in the Mercer Sentinel® Group in Mercer’s investment consulting business. Taaha assists with investment manager operational and implementation risk assessments, custody searches, transition management searches and coordination, securities lending analysis and foreign exchange benchmarking, and transaction cost analyses.
Taaha joined Mercer’s retirement business in 2006 as an actuarial analyst where he was responsible for calculating and forecasting pension liabilities. Taaha has been with the Mercer Sentinel® Group since 2007 and is currently based in the Chicago office.
Taaha has a BS in Economics and Mathematics from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Valentin Lubunga
Valentin Lubunga is an analyst in the Mercer Sentinel® Group in Mercer’s investment consulting business. Valentin supports senior consultants on custody searches, transition management projects, investment manager operational and implementation risk assessments and securities lending analyses.
Prior to joining Mercer in 2007, Valentin worked for a midsize marketing firm where he analyzed and audited marketing expenses for large North American automotive dealers. Valentin is based in the Chicago office.
Valentin joined as a graduate from DePaul University in Chicago, holding a Bachelor of Commerce (Economics).
John McSherry
John McSherry is a principal and senior consultant within the Mercer Sentinel® Group in Mercer's investment consulting business. John is responsible for new business development and is based in the New York office.
John has over 30 years experience in the trust and custody industry. He has broad industry background that ranges from client relations to various aspects of custody operations as well as holding various senior management roles with major custodian banks.
John holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of Palm Beach, Florida.
Gaurang Patel
Gaurang Patel is an associate within the Mercer Sentinel® Group in Mercer’s investment consulting business. His primary responsibility is to assist with Investment Manager Operational and Implementation Risk reviews.
Gaurang joined Mercer in 2009 with experience that includes 3 years of detailed forensic accounting experience with KPMG and most recently Blackrock in Chicago. Gaurang’s experience also includes work in the financial services sector in South Africa and London. He is professionally qualified as a CPA as well as a certified money laundering specialist and fraud investigator. Gaurang is based in Chicago.
Gaurang holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy and Finance is from the London School of Economics and an MA in Accountancy from Notre Dame, IN.
Tom Ramsey
Tom Ramsey is a senior associate and consultant within the Mercer Sentinel® Group in Mercer’s investment consulting business. Tom is responsible for conducting primary research on, and evaluation of, vendors’ proposals whilst consulting to clients.
Tom joined Mercer in 2008 with 18 years of financial analysis experience with a focus on capital markets and the provision of fee-based investment services. He consulted with clients on investment services using a risk assessment and goal setting process He was also portfolio manager of an equity long-short hedge fund pursuing a relative value strategy where he devised the correlated pair-trades and the arbitrage execution. Tom is based in the Chicago office.
Tom holds an MBA in finance and statistics from the University of Chicago’s Graduate School of Business, an MSc in accounting and finance from the London School of Economics, and a BBA in business administration from the University of Michigan.
Paul Sachs
Paul Sachs is a principal and senior consultant within the Mercer Sentinel® Group in Mercer's investment consulting business. He is based in the Philadelphia office.
First licensed as a registered representative in 1982, Paul gained fourteen years direct experience implementing transitions before joining Mercer’s consulting team as a transition management specialist in 2005.
Paul holds a BA from Yale University and an MBA from the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania.
Kelly Tracey
Kelly Tracey is an associate in the Mercer Sentinel® Group in Mercer’s investment consulting business. Kelly assists with investment manager operational and implementation risk assessments, custody searches, transition management searches and coordination, securities lending analysis and foreign exchange benchmarking, and transaction cost analyses.
Kelly has previous experience within the pensions and investment industry, starting her career with Mercer in 2004. Prior to joining Sentinel in 2007 Kelly was an analyst with the Performance Analysis and Reporting Division, a unit within Mercer’s National Resource Group, where she was responsible for calculating institutional performance measurement, characteristics analysis, and the production of client performance reports.
Kelly has a BS in finance from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana and is based in Chicago.
William Wong
William Wong is an associate within the Mercer Sentinel® Group in Mercer’s investment consulting business. William is primarily focused on conducting investment manager operational and implementation risk assessment services. He is based in Chicago office.
William joined Mercer Sentinel in January 2009 with four years of experience in the investment management industry. His previous experience includes two years at Navigant Consulting, Inc., where he helped an investment management institution transition its back office functions to an offshore location. He also performed a risk and compliance assessment for an investment management division in Edinburgh, Scotland to help mitigate regulatory risk. Prior to this he spent two years at PricewaterhouseCoopers as a staff auditor testing investment management companies’ internal controls throughout the trade process.
William has Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Accounting from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign.
Jason Zimmerman
Jason Zimmerman is an analyst with the Mercer Sentinel® Group in Mercer's investment consulting business. Jason conducts primary research and consults on projects relating to custody and transition management services and is based in the Chicago office.
Jason joined Mercer Sentinel in 2007 with prior experience conducting proprietary research and consulting to US and Canadian Defined Contribution schemes with a major US based consulting firm.
Jason holds a degree in Finance from Indiana University.
