Preparing HR professionals for cross-border deal success!

In major business transactions, HR executives have four primary accountabilities. They need to:

  • Identify and evaluate the human capital risks and opportunities
  • Ensure those risks and opportunities are accurately reflected in the purchase price and final agreement
  • Develop an integration strategy and detailed plan
  • Provide the leadership necessary to capture the expected value of the new venture through people

To fulfill these objectives, HR must be involved in the early stages of the deal and it needs to be ready. Given the pace and complexities, identifying and addressing the human capital issues in business transactions is challenging enough, but the additional complexities of cross-border transactions makes HR’s early involvement and strong leadership even more critical to deal success.

M&A Ready training

M&A Ready for Global Executives is an intensive one-day preparedness session for HR leaders who are responsible for identifying and managing people-related activities that are vital to successful cross-border transactions.

This session will provide participants with an understanding of the key human capital considerations in globalizing business operations through transactions and the foundational knowledge critical to achieving value in cross-border transactions.

Participants will receive information, insights, tools and methodologies that will help them and their companies fulfill the promise of a merger, acquisition, joint venture, IPO, divestiture or other major business transaction – no matter which countries are involved.

A one-of-a-kind session

Building on the success of our two-day M&A Ready program that we have offered to clients for four years, this newly designed one-day program is tailored to the specific interests of the global HR executive.

Conducted by experts with experience in all regions and deals, M&A Ready for Global Executives will focus on:

  • Macro deal trends, forward-looking scenarios and their HR implications
  • Important cross-border considerations in the areas of workforce staffing and alignment, compensation, benefits, performance management, leadership and sales force effectiveness
  • Compliance requirements that govern HR’s actions before, during and after the transaction
  • A specific focus on conducting business and transactions in China – one of the most active transaction markets globally
  • The emerging role and profile of successful global HR leaders

The session is highly practical and interactive, taking participants through both country-specific case examples and a realistic deal scenario to further understanding and illustrate the principles and processes involved.

Who should attend

This program is designed specifically for HR leaders and senior professionals who are likely to be involved in M&A activities – from pre-deal strategy, to due diligence through integration. Participants from different companies and countries will share experiences, contributing to a rich and insightful discussion.

We will limit the number of attendees to maximize the exchange of first-hand experiences among participants and Mercer consultants.

The ROI and what attendees will “take away”

By attending this intensive session, you will:

  • Increase your confidence in identifying human capital related issues outside of your geography
  • Significantly improve your understanding, planning and effectiveness before, during, and after cross-border deals
  • Further your contribution as a strategic business partner at the deal table
