Americas: Barbara S. Marder, ASA, MAAA
Barbara Marder is a senior retirement consultant in the Baltimore office
of Mercer with over 20 years of experience on all aspects of
retirement programs. Recently, Barbara became the Professional Leader for
Mercer’s Americas Retirement business overseeing intellectual
capital development, product development and quality assurance for
the business in the US, Canada and Latin America. Barbara is also a
member of the Americas Retirement leadership team.
Barbara continues to serve clients in the Baltimore area with a
focus in the healthcare industry. She is an Associate of the Society
of Actuaries and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
Barbara graduated from Emory University with a joint BA degree in
mathematics and economics.
Europe: Mick Moloney
Mick
Moloney is European Director of Investment Strategy for Mercer
Investment Consulting. Located in Dublin, he is responsible for providing
advice to a range of European clients.
Mick has nearly 15 years’ industry experience. In addition to
working at Mercer, he spent six years with another consulting firm,
HCM International, latterly as UK Managing Director.
Mick is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in the
United Kingdom, a Fellow of the Irish Society of Actuaries and an
Associate of the United States Society of Actuaries. He has an Executive
MBA from the Smurfit Business School, University College Dublin
and holds a Certificate in Derivatives from the Institute
of Actuaries. He is currently working towards a PhD in Finance on
a part-time basis with University College Dublin.
Asia: Phil Shirley, BSc FIA
Phil is
a Director of Mercer Human Resource Consulting in Hong Kong and
has responsibility for Mercer’s Retirement Business in the
Asia region. He has over 15 years’ experience of employee benefits
consulting in Asia and the United Kingdom.
Phil is an expert on Asian retirement systems and
specialises in providing advice to clients relating to the design,
funding and operation of their retirement schemes. He has advised
on numerous Merger and Acquisition projects and retirement
scheme restructuring exercises. He is a regular speaker and author of
articles on Asian retirement issues.
Phil obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Business
Operation and Control at the University of Salford, Manchester,
England. He is a qualified actuary, gaining his Fellowship of the U.K.
Institute of Actuaries in 1993.
