About MT's Britain’s
Most Admired Companies
Providing a rare insight into the corporate
reputations of Britain’s top companies, MT's Britain’s Most Admired
Companies Awards (BMAC) is a celebration of the best in business
practice. The first and only survey and awards of their type in the
UK, each year Britain’s top companies and their bosses are asked to
give their views on their nearest corporate rivals and to reveal
what it takes to become the most admired.
A peer-review, it harnesses the opinions of the
competition in an attempt to get to the heart of one of the most important
but most difficult to quantify aspects of contemporary corporate power.
The awards are based on the findings of the Britain’s Most
Admired Companies survey, which is sent by Nottingham Business School to
board level individuals from 220 of the UK’s largest companies.
These 220 companies are made up of the 10 largest UK-based
companies by market capitalisation across 22 different sectors.
Respondents are asked to rate their peers on their performance across 9
key criteria, on a scale of 0 to 10 (0 representing poor, 5 average and 10
excellent). Then each December, Management Today publish a
list of the overall rankings accompanied by their own thoughtful insight
in a special BMAC awards edition of the publication. The magazine and
results are made available following an award ceremony held on the 1
December each year.
