Singapore
Singapore, 23 April 2008

Mercer's investment consulting business today announced Garry Hawker's promotion to fill the newly created role as Regional Director for National Funds, Asia Pacific and Alan Flynn’s promotion to assume the leadership of the business across Asia-ex Japan.

Tony Cole, leader of Mercer's investment consulting business Asia Pacific said that Garry's role filled an increasing need to provide innovative investment solutions to mega funds, particularly those in emerging capital markets.

He also said that is was a natural step for Alan to fill the leadership role in Asia ex-Japan considering his excellent contribution during the past four years in building Mercer's investment consulting business in Asia.

"Alan has demonstrated considerable acumen in working with our clients across Asia to provide investment solutions in markets which present significant challenges particularly regulatory ones.

"Last year, the arrangement to provide investment advice and research to Ping An Asset Management to help build a multi-manager product to be launched under the Qualified Domestic Institutional Investor (QDII) program, was a significant one and a credit to Alan’s management and expertise.

Mr. Cole also said that the creation of a new role in the business paved the way to provide a better service in the region.

"We felt there was a fundamental opportunity for Garry to capitalize on the deep expertise he has gained in working with numerous mega-funds and to devote his efforts to serving this demanding and regionally as well as internationally important group of investors.

"With the depth of his experience and exacting track record of excellence, Garry will be THE senior consultant in the region and contribute to the development of staff as a mentor and to our intellectual capital globally."

Tim Gardener, global head of Mercer's investment consulting business said "With the rapid economic development and wealth accumulation at both government and individual levels in Asia, we anticipate increasing needs for investment advice for both domestic and international investment. These new appointments and the opening of our Shanghai office will ensure that Mercer's investment consulting business is able to provide innovative investment solutions to clients in the region."

The roles are effective immediately. Alan will lead a team of around 30 in offices in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Shanghai and India and continue to be based in Hong Kong. Garry will continue to be based in Shanghai.
