Mercer’s expansion into Asia has led to the appointment of Richard Everingham to lead its retail investment consulting team in Australia.
Mr Everingham will be responsible for the delivery of Mercer’s consulting service to private banks and wealth management firms.
He will work with Rashmi Mehrotra, who in her new capacity as Head of Retail Services for Asia Pacific will focus on building Mercer’s retail capability in Asian markets, as well as heading up the recently established investment consulting business in India. In her new role, Ms Mehrotra travels to Singapore and Mumbai on a frequent basis while still based in Sydney.
Ms Mehrotra said the breadth of the retail services offering had grown considerably in Australia over the past few years, and she was confident that Mr Everingham would be an exceptional asset to lead the team in Australia.
“Richard has a diverse range of skills acquired from his extensive experience within financial markets and is a financial professional of the highest calibre. He has demonstrated his capability to add value by supporting and driving growth through improving processes, product and service delivery, which will be essential as we continue to enhance our research tools for the retail sector.”
“This puts Mercer in a strong position to continue to deliver and innovate for the retail sector in Australia, as well as expand our focus to enhance the retail offering throughout the Asia Pacific region,” Ms Mehrotra said.
Prior to joining Mercer, Mr Everingham worked at Lonsec Limited for seven years where his last role was Head of Ratings - Managed Funds. Lonsec is an investment research and stock broking services company to the retail segment of the financial services industry.
Mr Everingham will be based in Melbourne and Mercer will look to add an analyst locally to expand the retail capability in this market. The team is also hiring a consultant in Sydney.
