As Wall Street continues to rock and roll and the return to a robust production and job market remains uncertain - we have good news for HR leadership:
Your contribution to strategy is making a difference.
In a recently-completed study of more than 300 US-based organizations, Transforming HR for Business Results, Mercer unveils critical insights about the state of HR transformation. Most HR leaders indicated they have developed strategies (55% have crafted a human capital or workforce strategy and 79% have an HR function strategy) to align their HR programs and services to support their organization's business priorities.
However, the most intriguing findings emerged when we compared responses between those that have and those that have not developed strategies.
Our analysis revealed significant benefits for HR leaders that have developed human capital and HR strategies:
-
They spend more time on strategic, value-added activities and less time on administration.
-
The HR function is viewed as a strategic business partner by the organization's leadership.
-
HR has greater control over budgets and allocation of resources.
-
HR is more effective at using metrics to manage its operations and to influence business decisions throughout the organization.
-
They appear to use their HRIS technology more effectively and are more likely to have realized their expected return on their HRIS investments.
