Julio A. Portalatin is President and Chief Executive Officer of Mercer, a global consulting leader in talent, health, retirement and investments that helps clients around the world advance the health, wealth and performance of their most vital asset – their people. Mercer’s approximately 20K employees are based in more than 42 countries. Mercer is a wholly owned subsidiary of Marsh & McLennan Companies (NYSE: MMC), a global team of professional services companies offering clients advice and solutions in the areas of risk, strategy and human capital. Mr. Portalatin serves as Corporate Officer while also serving on the Marsh & McLennan Executive Committee.
Before joining Mercer, Mr. Portalatin served as President and CEO of American International Group’s Growth Economies. During his tenure at AIG, he served in a number of senior positions, including President and CEO of Emerging Markets, President and CEO of AIG Europe S.A. and Continental European Region, President of American International Underwriters’ (AIU) Worldwide Accident & Health Division, President of AIU’s Personal Lines Worldwide Division, President and General Manager of AIU Seguros Interamericana in Mexico, Executive Vice President of AIU’s Latin American Division and Vice President – Property for Lexington Insurance Company, a subsidiary of AIG. In 2000, Mr. Portalatin was elected by the AIG Board of Directors to the position of Vice President and in 2007 to Senior Vice President.
Prior to joining AIG in 1993, Mr. Portalatin spent 12 years with Allstate Insurance Company in various executive product underwriting, distribution and marketing positions.
Education
Mr. Portalatin is a graduate of Hofstra University in New York, from which he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management.
Orlando Ashford, President, Talent
Career notes
Orlando Ashford is President of Mercer's Talent business. Previously he led Mercer's Leadership and Organization Performance practice, which partners with clients across the globe to drive performance through effective leaders, the right organization, aligned people strategies and practical talent management solutions. Prior to that role, Orlando served as Senior Vice President, Chief HR and Communications Officer of Marsh & McLennan Companies. In this capacity, he oversaw Human Resources, Corporate Communications, Corporate Social Responsibility and activities involving the company's corporate brand.
Orlando serves on the Board of Directors for ITT Corporation. He is also a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) Blue Ribbon Commission on diversity in corporate boardrooms. Additionally, he sits on the Board of Directors for the Executive Leadership Council (ELC) and StreetWise Partners. He also serves on advisory boards for Purdue University School of Technology, the NFL Players Association and ROADS Charter High Schools.
Andrew Beagley, Chief Risk & Compliance Officer

Andrew Beagley is a Senior Partner and Chief Risk & Compliance Officer of Mercer.
Andrew joined Mercer after nine years with Citigroup, where he most recently served as a Managing Director. In this position, he was the Chief Compliance Officer for the firm's US investment management and mutual funds businesses, overseeing all compliance activities related to these businesses, which had $400 billion of assets under management, 220 mutual funds and eleven independent mutual fund boards.
Andrew joined Salomon Brothers Asset Management, a Citigroup business, in 1997 and held a series of leadership positions in compliance, including Chief Compliance Officer of Citigroup's asset management businesses in Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Before joining Citigroup, Andrew served as head of investment funds policy for the UK Investment Management Regulatory Organization, where he developed mutual fund regulations and policies within the industry and represented the UK at International Organization of Securities Commissions meetings. During this time, Andrew completed an internship with the US Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington DC.

Phil de Cristo is President and Group Executive of Investments. In this role, Phil is responsible for all aspects of Mercer's multi-manager investment management business around the globe.
Phil joined the firm in 2006 and has over 18 years of international experience in the investment management and retirement business.
Previously, Phil held a number of positions with Fidelity Investments, including Executive Vice President of its retail mutual fund and retirement business, Managing Director of the European mutual fund business, and Managing Director of Fidelity Pensions Management.

Gaurav D. Garg, Regional President, Growth Markets
Career notes
Gaurav D. Garg is Regional President of Mercer's Growth Markets region. He is responsible for Mercer's businesses in Asia, Middle East, Africa and Latin America. Gaurav brings with him 26 years of diverse, well-rounded, and global experience. Prior to joining Mercer, Gaurav was with AIG, where he managed diverse portfolios in various geographies globally, including markets in different stages of evolution – from mature to developing. Most recently he was the CEO and Managing Director of Tata AIG General Insurance Company Ltd. in India and continues as Advisor to the Board of Directors and senior management of the company.
Gaurav holds a master's degree in Business Administration, and is an alumnus of the Wharton Advanced Management Program. He is also a Fellow of the Insurance Institute of India and a Member of the Chartered Insurance Institute, UK. He started his career in 1986 at National Insurance Co, India, where he handled a range of portfolios from retail insurance to insuring large engineering projects.
Gaurav joined AIG in 2000, in India, as Country Head, Personal Lines and was a part of the start up team that launched Tata AIG in India. In 2002, he took additional responsibility for Middle East and South Asia. In 2004, he went on to head field operations for the Personal Lines of Business, at AIU/AIG New York. As Vice President of Field Operations, Gaurav was responsible for six regions globally (namely Europe, CE/CIS, Mediterranean, Middle East & Asia Pacific, China and Australasia regions), as well as Global Distribution for Personal Lines. In this assignment, Gaurav has a track record of setting up and starting successful business operations in various countries in Asia and Middle East.
In July 2007, Gaurav took the role of CEO & Managing Director of Tata AIG General Insurance Company Ltd., India, where he successfully led the Company into a free pricing regime and through the global economic crises in 2008. In a short span of time he added to the momentum of the company and launched various new lines of business and accelerated geographic & distribution expansion, making Tata AIG one of the fastest growing private non-life insurance companies in its peer group. During his tenure at Tata AIG, the Company and Gaurav received numerous awards in recognition for the achievements in various fields of the business.
Gaurav has held positions like the Chairman of General Insurance Committee at Bombay Chamber of Commerce from 2008-2010 and has been member of several committees on trade bodies like the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), and the Accounting Standards Committee at the Indian Merchants' Chamber. He is a member of Indo-American Chamber of Commerce, and on the Board of Directors and Executive Council of US India Investors Council (USIIC), India.
Additionally, Gaurav has been a guest lecturer at University of Connecticut for their leadership programs, and has been an active participant at the Manhattan Round Table of the US India Business Council in the United States. He has also been speaker on various industry forums internationally and an active participant on panel and roundtable discussions. He has authored the Chapter on "Role of Insurance Intermediaries in the Emerging Markets" in the book titled Indian Insurance Industry -Transition & Prospects.

Jacques Goulet, President, Retirement

Jacques Goulet is President of Mercer's Retirement business. Previously, he was the Retirement business leader for North America.
Jacques joined Mercer in 1988 and has held various consulting and leadership positions over the last 23 years in Canada and Europe until his move to New York at the beginning of 2011. He has worked with clients in a number of industries including health care, transportation, technology and manufacturing providing advice on their global pension and benefit strategies.
Education
Jacques has a bachelor's degree with honors in actuarial mathematics from Concordia University. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries.
Mark McGivney , Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer
Career notes
Mark McGivney is Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Mercer. Previously, he was the Chief Financial Officer of Marsh Inc., the world's leading insurance broker and risk advisor.
Prior to Marsh, Mark was with The Hanover Insurance Group, where he was Senior Vice President of Finance, Corporate Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer for the company's property/casualty business. He joined The Hanover Insurance Group in 1997 as Vice President of Mergers & Acquisitions. Prior to that, Mark worked in investment banking in the financial institutions sector at Merrill Lynch and Salomon Brothers. He was also a CPA with Price Waterhouse earlier in his career.
Education
Mark holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. He is also a graduate of the University of Rhode Island, where he obtained a B.S. in business administration with a major in accounting.
Rian Miller, Vice President and General Counsel

Rian Miller is Mercer’s General Counsel. Before joining Mercer, Rian worked at Towers Watson and its predecessor firms. Rian has broad expertise in the legal and business issues impacting the retirement, health and benefits, talent management, outsourcing, and investments businesses.
Rian joined Towers Perrin in 1997 working principally on employment matters. In 2000, she was promoted to Towers Perrin’s Managing Counsel for Litigation and, in 2007, added the responsibility of Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer. After the 2009 merger of Towers Perrin and Watson Wyatt, Rian was appointed Managing Counsel for Risk and Litigation for the combined Towers Watson. Before joining Towers Perrin, Rian was an associate at Pepper Hamilton in Philadelphia.
Education
Rian graduated magna cum laude from Temple University School of Law. She earned masters’ degrees from Indiana University School of Music and Indiana University School of Library and Information Science.
Patricia Milligan, Regional President, North America

Pat Milligan is Regional President of Mercer's North America region. Previously, she was President of Mercer's Talent, Rewards and Communication group.
Since 2009, Pat has also led a global team that provides evidence-based, end-to-end solutions in human capital strategy, rewards, talent management and operations and technology solutions to clients in a variety of industries, including pharmaceuticals, consumer products, energy, financial services, and professional services.
From 2005 through 2008, Pat was the chief markets officer where she was responsible for the implementation of Mercer's global client relationship management system, the launch of the firm's sales effectiveness program globally and the repositioning of Mercer's brand in the marketplace.
Prior to joining Mercer in 2005, Pat held a variety of leadership roles at major HR & financial services consultant organizations. At Mellon Human Resources Services, she was the Region Business Leader for the Worldwide Markets business. At Towers Perrin (now Towers Watson), she was a member of the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors.
For most of her 25-year career, Pat has partnered with and been involved in innovative and pioneering work in the area of human capital strategy, HR function strategy, talent management and rewards strategy.

Pat is a graduate of Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service and the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
Marcelo Modica , Chief People Officer

Marcelo Modica is the Chief People Officer for Mercer. In this capacity, Marcelo is responsible for developing Mercer’s talent strategy that aligns with the company's mission, operating imperatives and values. Marcelo delivers this strategy through managing all aspects of human resources, including employee experience, professional development, talent management, compensation, staffing and employee relations.
Marcelo joined Mercer from JP Morgan Chase, where he was General Manager for Chase Hispanic Customers and responsible for driving a culturally relevant strategy for Hispanic customers across Chase. Prior to this role, Marcelo was Managing Director & Head of Human Resources for Consumer & Business Banking.
Before joining Chase, Marcelo was the Chief Human Resources Officer for Discover Financial Services, where he developed Discover’s talent strategy and managed the unit’s spin-off from Morgan Stanley in 2007 as head of HR for the public company. He was a member of Discover’s Management and Operational Risk Committees. Marcelo joined Morgan Stanley in 1994 and held a number of positions in human resources before his move to Discover in 2006. Marcelo also worked for Prudential Securities and Lehman Brothers.

Marcelo earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Siena College and a Master of Arts in organizational psychology from Columbia University.
Simon O'Regan, Regional President, EuroPac
Career notes
Simon O'Regan is Regional President of Mercer's EuroPac region. Previously, he was Head of Mercer's EMEA region. After completing his education in South Africa, and spending eight years working in Ireland, Zimbabwe and the UK, Simon joined Mercer in London in 1988 and transferred to Melbourne, Australia in 1989. He was Head of the Melbourne office from 1993 to 1996.
Simon spent three years away from Mercer establishing a funds management business in Australia, then returned in 1999 and was Chief Executive Officer of the Australia/NZ company from January 2001 until his move to London in October 2004.
Education
Simon has an honors degree in business science from the University of Cape Town. He is a Fellow of the Faculty of Actuaries (Scotland) and a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia.
David Rahill, President, Health & Benefits
Career notes
Dave Rahill is the President of Mercer's global Health & Benefits business.
Throughout his 25-year consulting career, Dave has provided a variety of services to private and public sector employers, providers, and managed care organizations. Dave's employer consulting experience has been focused in assisting large employers to assess organizational needs, review options to restructure plans or evaluate new plan options, and implement and administer the recommended strategic options.
Dave consults with companies such as Colgate, Sears, Sony, The Hartford, Eaton, Hanniford Brothers, and Merrill Lynch. Dave created the original National Survey of Employer-Sponsored Health Plans while at Foster Higgins, which is now the Mercer survey.
Prior to joining Mercer, Dave was a consultant for a competing employee benefit consulting firm.
Education
Dave is a graduate of the University of Buffalo and holds a master's degree in public health from Columbia University, School of Public Health.
