Mercer’s investment consulting business is pleased to announce its seventh European Investment Forum. This one-day conference, attended by asset managers and senior Mercer staff, will be held in Paris on 9 December and will be preceded by a reception and dinner on the evening of 8 December 2009.

The title of the conference is “Post-modern investing”. We are planning a thought-provoking forum looking at the issues facing investors as they continue to encounter uncertainty in the markets. There will be panel sessions and debates to assess whether we are experiencing a paradigm shift towards more unorthodox/non-traditional investing, driven by the financial market turmoil of the past months. Mercer will also present its response to these challenging times.

We are privileged to have, as keynote speaker, Patrick Dixon, author of Futurewise – Six Faces of Global Change and Building a Better Business. He is often described in the media as Europe’s leading futurist (the science, art and practice of postulating possible, probable and preferable futures), specialising in identifying trends in the financial market place. Mr Dixon will share his views on the ways in which the economy is improving.

Senior members of the Mercer investment consulting team will be joined by other industry leaders to discuss a range of topics. There will be a panel discussion on the paradigm shift and the future of long-term investing and implications for investors, an inflation vs. deflation debate, a manager research boutiques update, an industry perspective and a look at how Mercer is responding to the current environment. You will also have the chance to attend topical breakout sessions on responsible investment, hedge funds, operational due diligence, the growth portfolio and bonds.
